I know; cultural inclinations are one thing, but there's no way this woman didnt notice how striking was her hot pink coat (fluffy by the way) and black burka.

No paper was harmed

I usually hate to see a post in a blog with a title like "done with my ipod" or something like that, because I cant believe that there's actually any merit base on whichever technique you use; however, this morning while riding the train to work, I did this quick sketch of a story I am working on and I was somewhat happy with the result and the fact that it was drawn on a tiny screen with a rudimentary stylus that resembles more a cotton swab.

That being said, the horse does look pretty creepy; have to learn how to draw those.

Subway sketch

There was something about this guy riding the Manhattan bound F train around 8am; the colors on his attire were pretty catchy...

Waiting for Nicolas

Almost literally.
Nicolas is our first baby and we're expecting him to be born on 10/10/10; but who knows, maybe a few days before, maybe a few days after. excitement is mounting!

Subway rider

Saw her a few days ago, while riding the subway to the doctor's office to take a peek at Nicolas. She seemed friendly, just slightly menacing.

Story

One exercise I was advised to do by Kyle Balda at Gobelins was to study this sequence of the movie The Sweet Smell of Success.
This is my first study in storyboard from. The scene is somewhat complex from a layout point of view, so that will be my next step.

Guy in the subway

He was talking to his pals all the ride long! he talked about kayaking, ferraris, and other stuff; pretty loud and sort of annoying. had to draw him.

It's embarrassing that I dont know his exact name, but was it Monet or Manet that painted Notre Dame over and over under different light conditions? I should always keep him in mind, since I should always go back to drawings I've done before and study what worked, what didn't and just rework it to death.

Sketches Sept 1/2010

The guy in the subway I saw last night; he wasnt particularly angry, it's just that the framing that this other guy in front of him and the lines of the subway car created were so great; that's what I tried to draw. I didnt want the drawing to come out so clean, but I re-arranged the figures to death so at the end I was using tracing paper to get the image done. The girls are just two smoking/chatting/lunchbreaking chicks I could see from the conf table of my office while I was having lunch.
